Outdoor entrance mats are the first place where dirt and moisture are removed from footwear and wheeled traffic, helping to keep internal floor coverings clean.
However, not every doormat is suitable for outdoor use. Many other clean mats would probably not survive the high demand of outdoor dirt-trapping mats.
There’s probably no question that a clean run entrance mat exposed to the elements in any season should be robust and durable. Ring rubber mats are the best solution for an exterior entrance. As these mats provide good drainage, are highly weather and temperature resistant and are very easy to handle when it comes to cleaning and maintenance.
However, in addition to the classic ring rubber mats, there are also other rubber mats and PVC mats that prove to be just as good for outdoor use.
Other dirt-trapping mats with conditional suitability for outdoors include coconut fibre mats.
Rubber mats are not everyone’s taste in terms of appearance. There are also dirt-trapping mats that are suitable for outdoor use but do not have quite such a rustic appearance.
The classic mat here is the coconut fibre mats with a PVC or polypropylene pile can also be used outdoors.
It should be noted, however, that these are suitable for covered entrances. The direct influence of rain and snow can more easily damage the properties of these mats.
